The Dogo Argentino was first bred in Argentina in 1928 by Dr. Antonio Nores Martínez, who desired a hunting dog with the strength, endurance and brave demeanor of the ancient fighting dogs but a more friendly and less aggressive temperament towards humans.
Dogo Argentino is a combination of several breeds including the Cordoba Fighting Dog, Great Dane, Boxer, Spanish Mastiff, Old English Bulldog, Bull Terrier, Pyrenean Mastiff, Pointer, Irish Wolfhound and Dogue de Bordeaux.
Known for its loyalty and bravery, the Dogo Argentino is often used by authorities in search and rescue missions, as well as in police work due to their high trainability and intelligence.
